Harley A. Leeworthy

Harley A. Leeworthy, Jr. 82, formerly of Niles, went home to his Heavenly Father Friday, August 28, 2009 from Windsor House of Champion. He was born August 15, 1927 in Warren, the son of Harley A. and Erma Faye (Hopkins) Leeworthy, Sr., and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.

A 1945 graduate of Cortland High School, Mr. Leeworthy was also a graduate of Oberlin College, earning a degree in physical education. A Yeoman Third Class in the U.S. Navy, he was awarded the Victory Medal and the American Area Ribbon. He worked as a computer analyst for Allied Metals, and taught math at ETI College for 27 years, retiring in 1994. He was of the Christian faith, was a member of Scope and the Silver Sneakers, and enjoyed reading, films, and square dancing.

Surviving are his children: Daryl A. Leeworthy of Bradenton, Fla., Cheryl Duarte of Mineral Ridge, and Fawnda Lee (Ron) Barker of Niles; four grandchildren: Victoria Leeworthy of Bradenton, Jessica Duarte of Houston, Tex., Kelli Barker of Hollywood, Fla., and Kyle Barker of Grove City, Pa.; a sister, Thelma Jane (Jim) Riedman of Champion; and two brothers, Donald Lee (Susan) Leeworthy of Coarsegold, Calif. and James Nelson Leeworthy of Champion. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Edward Henry Leeworthy.

At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Champion Baptist Church, 556 Center Street West, Warren, Ohio 44481. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Rd. N.E., Warren, Ohio 44483.
