Gwendolyn P. Faris

Gwendolyn P. Faris, 95, of Warren and formerly of Akron, died Thursday, November 1, 2007 at home. She was born September 16, 1912 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of James B. and Frances M. (Shannon) Stanford.

Mrs. Faris was a graduate of the University of Akron and retired in 1982 as a librarian for the Akron City Schools. She enjoyed reading and, most of all, her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Suzanne Y. (John) Shadley of Tulsa, Okla., and Laura J. Knoyer of Warren; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents and three brothers: Joseph, Paul, and John Stanford.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, November 5, 2007 at Crown Hill Cemetery, 8592 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, Ohio 44087, with interment to follow. Material contributions may be made to Help Hospitalized Veterans, P.O. Box 98088, Washington, D.C. 20090-8088.
