Gloria W. Manofsky

Gloria W. Manofsky, 85, Niles, formerly of Warren died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Autumn Hills Care Center. She was born in Warren, O, December, 21, 1925 the youngest child of the late Fred J and Stella (Girard) Wherley.

Gloria was educated in Warren City Schools, and graduated in 1944 and attended Flora Stone Mather and Youngstown Colleges. She was employed by the Union Savings and Trust Co. of Warren in their downtown offices, retiring in 1979 after 32 years of service. As a young person she danced in a number a local affairs under the auspices of Mrs. Shupe's School of Dance. She was active in sports participating in a number of golf and bowling leagues. Gloria enjoyed travel, reading and gardening, taking adult education courses, was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed being out in nature.

She attended St. Mary's Church for many years and in 1959 became a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church where she was active in volunteer work.

On November 27, 1965 she married John J. Manofsky Jr. and they were constant companions until his death on February 3, 2005. Gloria is survived by a sister, Mary Alice Downing of Columbus and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth Cosgrove and brother Fred J. Wherley, Jr.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2007, visitation will be in the church narthex from 10:00am till time of the service. Fr. Thomas Eisweirth will officiate and committal services and internment will conclude at All Souls Cemetery.
