Gladys M. Howell King, 91, passed away Saturday evening, October 27, 2012 at Gracewoods Assisted Living in Niles.
She was born October 11, 1921 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she lived until she met her husband Donald who was stationed at Camp Shelby. They were married in 1945 and moved to Ohio in 1952.
She worked in retail sales, mostly in the Baby and Women's departments at Carlisle's, Montgomery Wards, Lane Bryant and finally retired from Kmart on Elm Road.
She attended Tod Avenue United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Angelus Class and the Deborah Circle. She and her husband also enjoyed working the Fish Fry for several years.
Gladys is survived by her daughters; Kathy Ball of Florida, and Carolyn (Rey) Collazo of Warren, a granddaughter; Angela Collazo, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Donald King, a daughter; Donna King Sayers, two brothers; Thomas Howell and Roy Howell; and a sister, Evelyn.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gracewoods Assisted Living and Harbor Light Hospice for all their help and compassion.
Following her wishes, services will be private.
