Genevieve Metcalfe Bauman

WARREN - Genevieve Metcalfe Bauman, 94, passed peacefully away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Autumn Manor McKinley Suites. She was born on March 11, 1920 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Thompson) Metcalfe.

Genevieve was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended the Cleveland Conservatory of Case Western Reserve, and also attended Mount Union College. She was employed by Congregation Rodef Shalom Temple of Youngstown as the organist and choir director for 35 years. She was the pipe organist and pianist for many Youngstown area churches and local funeral homes throughout her entire life. She also played at the Maennerchor, and the Saxon clubs. She was a member of DAR, traveled to Europe several times, as well as many other locations.

Memories of Genevieve will be carried on by daughter, Genevieve M. (Joseph F. Bailey, Jr) Bauman of Warren; daughter, Beth (Edwardo) DeFunes-Hartmann of El Salvador; son, Richard G. Bauman, Jr. of Canfield; daughter, Christine A. (Charlie) Long of Prospect, OH; son, Arthur R Bauman of Walkersville, MD; daughter, Joanne L. (Brian Adkins) Lewis of Brookfield; daughter, Jeannette B. (Larry) York of Okinawa, Japan and Howland Twp; grandsons, Roberto Avila, Julio Avila, James F. Lewis, II. D'Andrew Soltis; granddaughters, Beth Marie Hernandez, Jamie DeLisio, Julie McCune; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Atty. Richard G. Bauman, whom she married November 1, 1943 and preceded her in death in 2004; daughter, Stephanie J. Soltis; daughter-in-law, Judy Bauman; sisters, Dorothy Cadzow, Marjorie Bundgard, and Betty O. MacDougall.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 4:00 pm - 7: 00 pm at McFarland and Son Funeral Home in Warren. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11:00 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. David Kamphuis of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Youngstown will officiate. Services of final committal will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
