Gene Huffstetler

Gene Allen Huffstetler, 80, of Howland Twp., died Sunday at St, Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Riverdale, TN on July 20, 1929. The son of Fred and Mary (Sagerty) Huffstetler and had moved to Warren where he was in the 12th Air Force Reservist assigned to the newly formed Youngstown Air Base.

He was a mechanic and engineering technician who retired from the Taylor Winfield Corporation and enjoyed working on cars. While serving in the Air Force during the Korean War he was an advisor to the Republic of Korea and then after his honorable discharge he served in the Air Force Reserves.

He married the former Harlene Eckels in 1955, who survives along with son Samuel (Cindy) Huffstetler, of North Benton, OH; daughters Karen Genette, and Carol (Nick) Graham, of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mr. Huffstetler is also survived by two sisters Betty Hanley and Cecil Davis and one brother, James Huffstetler, all of Knoxville, TN. He is preceded in death by a brother, Roy and a sister, Jerry.

Services are 11:00 AM Thursday, July 22, 2010 at The McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Friends may call from 9- 11 AM. Pastor Dee Emmert will be officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, OH.
