WARREN, Gary O. McFarland, 74, passed away suddenly on December 8, 2014, at his residence. He was born on November 9, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the son of Orville & Belle (Hardman) McFarland.

He was a talented musician, mostly playing the guitar and singing. His group "The Sundowners" have played many area venues including Fort Newton Jamboree. He along with family members have sung and preformed gospels in area churches. He was a member of The Beacon of Hope Church.

Gary worked for the Ohio Lamp Div. of General Electric in the shipping & receiving department. He served his country in the US Army and was a stationed in Korea and Germany.

Mr. McFarland is survived by his wife, the former Connie Davis who he married December 10, 1962, they would have been married 52 years. Also he leaves daughter: Lorena L. (Charles) Blackwell, son: Darrell "Jay" McFarland, both of Warren, daughter: Gayle McFarland, of Greenville, PA, four grandsons: Trevor McFarland, Darrell J. Caldwell, Gary L Caldwell, Nathaniel McFarland, granddaughter: Dominique Combs and great-grandson: Blake Combs. He is preceded in death by his sister Louise Tucker.

Family will receive friends and gather Friday, December 12, 2014 from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM with public visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The Rev. Gary Hennessey of the Beacon of Hope Baptist Church will officiate. Military honors and final committal services of internment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH, at a later date.
