Frank James Murray

Frank "James" Murray, 88, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Falls Village Retirement Community. He was born June 2, 1921 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Frank J. and Florence (Spitzform) Murray, Sr., and had lived in Ohio since 1949.

Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a flight instructor. After a few small business ventures, he went to work for Ruberoid Roofing, which later became part of GAF Corporation. He was an avid baseball fan and played in fast-pitch softball leagues in Cuyahoga Falls for many years. In his later years, he became a staunch follower of the Great Casino God.

He married Dana Arlene Grussey in 1946. She preceded him in death May 11, 1981. He later married Beverly Ogilvee in 1982, and she preceded him in death March 30, 2009.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen J. (Toni) Murray of Warren and Brian S. Murray of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two granddaughters, Erin E. Murray of Lakewood and Jessica A. Murray of Willoughby; and a sister, Doris Masters of Smithtown, N.Y. Besides his parents and his wives, a sister precedes him in death.

A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. His urn will be buried at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls at a later date. Material contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 545 Brunstetter Rd.
