Frank W. Lewis

Frank W. Lewis, 87, of Southern Pines, NC and formerly of Warren, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen, NC.

He was born on Wednesday, March 1, 1916, in Lima, Ohio, the son of the late Arlie and Mary Goldner Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School; attended the Cleveland College Branch of Western Reserve University; and graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He served with the Ninth Army Headquarters, 71st Finance Disbursing Section as a Staff Sergeant during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star. He worked 45 years with Union Savings and Trust Company in Warren, retiring in 1982 as Senior Vice President.

Mr. Lewis's professional memberships included the Cleveland chapter of the Robert Morris Associates and the Youngstown Association of Credit Management, where he was a past-president.

Mr. Lewis's community service included the board of trustees for Warren General Hospital, including terms as board president; a trustee for the Trumbull County and State of Ohio Society for Crippled Children; a trustee for the Visiting Nurses Association and Planned Parenthood Association; a board member of the Community Chest and the Family Service Association; past president of the Warren Kiwanis Club; and a member of the Chamber of Commerce, including past chairman of the membership committee.

Other memberships included Old Erie Lodge #3, F & AM in Warren; BPOE 1692 in Southern Pines; and the Southern Pines United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Lewis is his wife, Lucille Bidlack Lewis, whom he married in 1966.

Preceding Mr. Lewis in death are his parents; his first wife, Julia Harley Lewis; and his brother, Homer Lewis.

Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 9, 2004 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, with Rev. Jim Bloom officiating. Interment will follow at Overlook Cemetery in Parkman. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
