Frank J. Florio, 88, of Warren, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born January 1, 1924 in Warren, the son of Matthew and Antoinette (Picorelli) Florio, and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Mr. Florio was awarded two purple hearts for wounds received in action while in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for 38 years at Republic Steel, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed going to Mountaineer Park, casinos, Mosquito Lake, travel, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl Black of Warren; a sister, Josephine Pardee of Warren; a brother, Guy (Jeri) Florio of Warren; a sister-in-law, Olive Bush of Pittsburgh; many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Jill and Tim. His wife, Frances (Bush) Florio, whom he married August 28, 1950 and who died June 26, 2006, precedes him in death.
Friends may call 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Full military honors will be conferred at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit, c/o Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44483.
