Florence B. Stassinis

Florence B. Stassinis, 80, of Niles and formerly of Warren, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Forum Health - Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born September 14, 1928 in Sharon, Pa., the daughter of Terrence and Ethel (Dehringer) Burns, and had lived in Trumbull County most of her life.

Mrs. Stassinis was a 1947 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended nursing school. A licensed practical nurse, she was administrator for Parkview Nursing Home in Warren for 14 years, and retired in 1993 as a nurse with Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Later, she worked as a hostess at Eat'n Park Restaurant, retiring in 2003. A member of Second Christian Church, she was a current member and past-president of the Warren Emblem Club.

Surviving are seven children: Robert M. (Donna) Stassinis of Cortland, Janet (Duane) Ulery of Ocala, Fla., Harvey T. (Deborah) Stassinis of Warren, Sherry (Frank) Wolner of Middletown, Ohio, Loraine Griffing of Warren, Dee (Dave) Pierce of Mansfield, and Teri (Larry) McGinnis of Cortland; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Michael A. Stassinis, whom she married May 11, 1949 and who died September 13, 2008; a sister, Dorothy Lott; and a brother, Terrence Burns, Jr.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Pineview Memorial Park. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Warren Emblem Club will conduct a service at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
