Fenwick M. Broberg

Fenwick M. Broberg, 98, of Warren, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. He was born December 28, 1912 in McKeesport, Pa., the son of Emil L. and Edith (Boax) Broberg, and had lived in Trumbull County since 1955.

A World War II Navy officer, Mr. Broberg was a graduate of McKeesport High School and the University of Pittsburgh, with post-graduate studies in industrial engineering. He had worked at American Bridge and Armstrong Cork, and retired in 1977 after 19 years as senior systems analyst for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and LTV Steel. A member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren, he had served as chief usher, trustee, and on the church session. He enjoyed tennis and golf, and made friends with people of all ages.

Surviving are two children: Linda (William) Shapiro of Howland and Peter R. Broberg of Warren; two grandchildren: Brian Shapiro and Jennifer (Jason) McDowell; and two great-grandchildren: Ian and Alyssa McDowell. Preceding him in death is his wife, Helen (Wood) Broberg, whom he married June 8, 1940 and who died October 29, 1986; and a son, Stephen Broberg.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. James Brandis of Shepherd of the Valley officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
