Cortland, OH, Eugene (Gene) V. Zoba, 84 welcomed eternal reprieve and serenity Friday, December 6, 2013 at his residence.

He was born September 15, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Victor Zoba and Grace (Crum-Johnston) Zoba. Whilst being born into meager means his vigor for life was not predetermined by those circumstances.

He offered his dedicated services for 32 years to Van Huffel Sheet and Tube until his retirement in 1985 as the Maintenance Foreman. He continued on with Vanex Tube Corp. until 1992 when he said the sunshine and golf course are calling. He served is country in the Air Force as an auto mechanic from 1946 to 1949.

In July of 1953 he married Shirlee Klutch and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Gene enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. He was an avid golfer spending many an afternoon at Northwoods Golf Course. He also paid tribute to other local golf courses and took annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach. He was a member of the Slovak Club where everyone knew his name. He enjoyed boxing as a teen, fishing, bowling (bowled a 300 in 1967) and had a strong appreciation for music with Frank Sinatra being one of his favorites.

Enjoyable memories will be cherished by his wife, Shirlee; his daughters, Hope Alford and Heather (Mark) DeMalio, his five grandchildren; Charles, David, Amanda, Isabella and Mia; his seven great-grandchildren and his three sisters, Delores (Paul) Jaussen, Justine (Ronald) McClurg and Caroline (Samuel) Todd.

He is preceded in death by his father, Victor; his mother, Grace and his brother, Carl Zoba.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren, Friday December 13, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Rick Fritz officiating. Services of final committal will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, with full military honors by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, Gene's family suggest contributions be made in the form of contributions to Barbara Ann & Carl Zoba Scholarship Fund, c/o Warren City School Foundation, Office of the Superintendent,105 High St. N.E. Warren, OH 44481.
