Eugene "Gene" Shipman

Eugene "Gene" F. Shipman, 87, of Cortland, passed away on October 31, 2011 after a short illness at the St. Joseph's Heath Center ,Warren, OH.

He was born on April 1, 1924 to Fred and Janod (Simons) Shipman/List at Bristolville, OH. He was a graduate of Mecca High School and worked in the Tool Room for Brainard Steel retiring in 1986. He was a member of Wildare United Methodist Church and The Lakeview Coon and Fox Hunters Association. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music and hunting fishing horses and his dogs.

On June 7, 1947 he married the former Lena Muresan who survives and to this union Gene is survived by his 3 daughters - Nancy (Ray) McClintock of Warren, Linda Shipman of West Mecca, and Diane (Bob) Mokri of Kinsman; 2 granddaughters - Melanie McClintock of Brooklyn, NY, Amanda Mokri of Kinsman; 2 grandsons - Mark (Marisa) McClintock of Westlake, OH, Rob Mokri of Kinsman; and great granddaughter - Salma McClintock Azayi of Brooklyn, NY;

He is also survived by 3 sisters -Helen Edwards Clark of Bristolville, Betty Biro of NC, and Wanda (Thomas) Sawyer of Bristolville; 2 brothers - Floyd (Yvette) Shipman of West Mecca, and Robert (Dorothy) List of West Mecca; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Edna Mocella.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 04, 2011 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm at The Wildare United Methodist Church with a Memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM. the Rev. Tal Lewis will officiate.
