Esther Cavadas Garbinski

Esther Cavadas Garbinski, 71, of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and formerly of Warren, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne. She was born June 25, 1936 in Warren, the daughter of Peter and Stella (Carla) Cavadas.

Esther was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and continued her studies at Youngstown State University, where she took the secretarial course, and Ivy Tech College, where she took the legal course. She had worked for a while at Copperweld and at General Motors, and her last position had been as a teacher's assistant in the Ft. Wayne Community Schools. She was an active homemaker who liked to work around the house. She was very active in her churches, the Maplecrest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses of Ft. Wayne and the Warren, Ohio Tod Heights Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, and her greatest interests were reading and studying.

Surviving are her husband, Richard J. Garbinski, whom she married July 11, 1976; a son, Maxim Nicholas Garbinski of Ft. Wayne; two sisters: Mary Ballas and Rebecca Wilson, both of Warren; a brother, David (Lynette) Cavadas of Sagamore Hills; a niece, Jamie Wilson of Warren; two nephews: Jason (Karen) Cavadas of Twinsburg and Jed (Melissa) Cavadas of Strongsville; a grandnephew, Brandon Wilson of Warren; three grandnieces: Athena Wilson of Warren, and Emma and Ashley Cavadas of Twinsburg; and her loving cousins from Chicago, Ill. Her parents precede her in death.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Jeffrey LaBuda of Tod Heights Congregation officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
