Esther P. Engster, 95, of Warren, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born September 1, 1915 in Warren, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Solska) Paskowitz, and had lived in the Warren area all her life.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, she was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She worked at Packard Electric where she met Herb Engster, the love of her life, in the cafeteria. Later, she worked for Fred H. Myers Jewelers in downtown Warren.
Mrs. Engster loved to sew and made many of her own clothes. She also enjoyed completing word searches to keep her mind sharp. She and Herb shared a love for golf, bowling, fishing, and travel. Although she dearly missed her husband and best friend, she continued to enjoy the company of friends and family, and especially enjoyed dining out whenever she was able.
Surviving are her many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Herbert R. Engster, whom she married April 29, 1944 and who died November 18, 1979; and four sisters: Mary P. Sheroke, Anne P. Webber, Rose P. West, and Katherine Klovanich.
Calling hours are 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. A graveside committal service, led by Rev. Bill Wessner, will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park.
