Esther Tetrick Bunchy

Esther Tetrick Bunchy, 98, of Howland, died 12:30 PM Saturday, May 20, 2006 at home. She was born Monday, May 11, 1908 in Mercer County, Pa., the daughter of the John Watson and Grace Cutler Watson.

Esther attended Edinboro Teachers College in Pennsylvania and graduated from Youngstown State University. She began her career at 19, teaching eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse in Mercer County. She also taught in Niles, and retired from the Lordstown schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Niles; SCOPE; D.A.R.; Child Study Club of Niles; and the Ida McKinley Chapter of Eastern Star.

Surviving are her daughter, Janet (Fred) Schweitzer of Howland; her son, Jerry (Barbara) Tetrick of Mercer County, Pa.; five granddaughters: Sandra Tetrick (Randall Weaver), Sherry Ann Tetrick (Donald Decker), Mary Lena Tetrick (Richard Rumelfanger), Holly Jane Schweitzer (Kurt Loell), and Gretchen Louise Schweitzer (Holger Tostmann); three grandsons: Mark James Tetrick, Jeffrey Glen Tetrick, and David John Tetrick (Patti Bodnar); five great-grandsons: Caleb James Decker, Jacob Richard Rumelfanger, Ryan David Tetrick, Benjamin Frederick Loell, and Paul Allen Schweitzer-Tostmann; three great-granddaughters: Dawn Elizabeth Decker, Magdalena Rose Rumelfanger, and Rebecca Esther Loell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Glenn M. Tetrick, whom she married December 28, 1937 and who died in 1964; her second husband, John Bunchy, whom she married May 27, 1976 and who died in 1987; her son, James Tetrick; and two brothers, John and Allen Watson.

Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, June 24, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, 608 N. Crandon Ave., Niles, Ohio 44446. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to SCOPE, Inc., 220 W. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481.
