HOWLAND - Eloise P. Hamilton, 82, passed away early May 10, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born on March 29, 1932 in Walnut, Illinois, the daughter of the late Oscar and Media Myrle (Titus) Pierson.

She was the youngest of six sisters. She graduated from Ashton High School, Ashton Illinois in 1950. She attended Monmouth College in Illinois where she received her BA in education in 1954.

Eloise married her husband of 56 years, Colin B. Hamilton on August 2, 1955 and they moved to Ames, IA where she taught school for several years. Following their time in Iowa, they moved to Pittsburgh, PA. Eloise divided her time between raising a family and substitute teaching for Pittsburgh area schools. In 1983, she moved to Howland and became active in many local clubs and organizations. She was a member of the Warren Women's Club, American Association of University Women, Monday Afternoon Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Food Shelf Ministries at Richard Brown UMC, Youngstown. She was an active member of the Howland United Methodist Church. Eloise enjoyed playing bridge and was an active supporter of the Arts. She held season passes to Trumbull New Theater and Civic Symphony.

She is survived by her three children: Tamara Fowler of Buckhannon WV, Andrea Carrier of Warren, and Ernest Hamilton of Granville, OH. Her six grandchildren: Courtney Carrier, Jonathan Hamilton, Andrew Carrier, Chelsa Carrier Eades, Ethan Hamilton and Elliot Hamilton; four great-grandchildren: Alexis Carrier, Jordan Hamilton, McKenna Hamilton and Hadley Crowell; and two sisters. Eloise was preceded in death by her loving husband Colin in July of 2011, and three sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Howland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew Darrin officiating. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the narthex of the church. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at the church.
