Ellen G. Hromyak, 89, of Niles, passed away after a courageous battle of breast cancer on Saturday, April 11, 2015 with family by her side.
She was born in Niles, Ohio on July 31, 1925, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Yantz) Reinhart.
She graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1942 and worked at GE Trumbull Lamp in Warren for 10 years. Many days she walked or rode her bike 9 miles each way and was never late or absent.
Ellen loved to dance and met her "one and only", John, "Feathers" Hromyak at Avon Oaks. They were united in marriage on June 7, 1952 and shared 44 years together until his unexpected passing in 1996 while dancing.
She and Feathers were blessed with four children, daughters, MaryEllen Fusselman of Niles, Gail Bellan of Champion, sons Don Hromyak of Niles, and Johnny, who passed away in 2009. She loved her daughter-in-law Denise Hromyak and son-in-law Edward Bellan as her own. The greatest love and joy of her life was spending time and caring for her twelve grandchildren, Scott, Brent, Kelli, Jackie, John, Becky, Adam, Aaron, Darci, Dana, Dustin, DJ, all who fondly called her "Grandma" and loved staying at "Grandma's" to swim and go on bike rides with her. She was blessed and known as "Mimi" by her thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Ellen helped raise "her little boy" brother Don Reinhart who survives in Florida.
In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Ellen was preceded in death by, a brother, Melvin and sister, Audrey Nicholas.
Ellen loved life to the fullest, loved to laugh and with a great sense of humor, she always had a joke to share. Her beaming smile and beautiful bright blue eyes were infectious. She was known for baking delicious pies. She was very active and would be seen walking many miles in Niles. She loved to dance, music, and singing and was a crossword puzzle and Wheel of Fortune buff. She was a former St. Joe's hospital volunteer. With a heart of gold, she always helped and supported her family and others.
Her love of people and sharing with others the blessings of God's Kingdom was her lifeline. She was the 2nd oldest member of the Niles Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Niles Kingdom Hall, 152 North Rd, Niles where friends and family may call 4:00pm-6:00pm.
The family expresses deep appreciation to everyone who cared for and was a part of Ellen's wonderful life. She was a joy to all, left a lasting impression and will be dearly missed.
