Ella "Jane" Bell

CORTLAND - Ella Jane Hinton Bell, 83, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 11, 1932 in Cortland, the daughter of the late Clyde Wesley Hinton and Ruth Neoma Clime Hipple. Her step-parents were Iva Virginia Hinton and Edwin G. Hipple.

Jane as she liked to be called was born in the Lions Club building in Cortland and spent her last years living at Cortview Village, a residential senior community sponsored by the Lions Club. She enjoyed the coincidence and was quick to share her story. As a member of the 1950 January class of Warren G. Harding High School, Jane met Frederick Leroy Bell, whom she married December, 1950.

Genealogy, crossword puzzles, reading, music, square dancing, flower arranging, macramAC., sewing, and decorating Christmas trees were some of her favorite pastimes.

Jane is survived by four children, Pamela {John} Lengel of Howland, Frederick David Bell of Niles, Patricia {Anthony} Morrell of Howland, and Gary {Debbie} Bell of Cortland. Nine grandchildren, Julie Callen, Jon Lengel, Jennifer Young, Christina Adams, Sarah Shales, Michael Morrell, Dustin Bell, Ian Lengel, and Rachel Morrell. Eight great-grandchildren, Casey Cline, Cheyenne Lengel, Hope Callen, Todd Callen, Rehgan Bechtel, Zabella Lengel, Helena Bell, and Avery Bell. One more great-grandchild is due in January and a great-great-grandson will also arrive in January. Along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Joanne Marble; and two beloved nephews, William D. Marble and Robert J. Bell.

Family will receive friends Friday, August 14, 2015 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Rusty Cowden officiating. Services of final committal will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Bazetta.
