CHAMPION - Elbert "Roy" Tackett, 81, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at University Hospital of Cleveland after a long illness. He was born on May 29, 1933 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, the son of the late Everett and Jewell (Fannin) Tackett.

Elbert retired in 1986 after 30 years from Copperweld Steel as a Furnace Operator.

Memories of Roy will be carried on by wife, Doris (Porter) Tackett of Champion, whom he married November 22, 1952; sons: Richard L. (Sandi) Tackett of Kinsman, Keith M. (Isabel) Tackett of Houston, TX, Tim (Maureen) Tackett of Newburgh, IN, Rodney B. (Darlene) Tackett of Warren, Wendell D. (Astrid) Tackett of Ann Arbor, MI; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Juanita Oney of Hamilton, OH, Phyllis Osborne of Winchester, KY, Alma Jean Reid of Olive Hill, KY, Alice Gail (Tom) Rogers of Medway, OH; and brother, William (Sue) Tackett of Olive Hill, KY.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jolene Furnish; and brother, Russell Tackett.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at McFarland & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to service. Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Rasey officiating. Services of final committal will follow at Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion.
