Edward A. Sutton, 97, of Fowler, died peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 14, 1914 in Helvetia, W. Va., the son of George W. and Bertha (Teuscher) Sutton.
A full-time farmer most of his life, Mr. Sutton had also worked as a tipple operator for coal mines, and in the lumber yard of the J. M. Huber Corp. He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Helvetia, W. Va.
Surviving are three children: Barbara J. (Everett) Waggoner of Fowler, George E. (Pat) Sutton of Mechanicsville, Va., and David H. Sutton of Webster, N.H.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his wife, Helen P. (Schneider) Sutton, whom he married June 1, 1939 and who died April 17, 2008; four sisters; and four brothers.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Fowler Community Church, with Rev. Joel Dickson and Rev. Dan Cale officiating. Interment will follow in Dugan Cemetery in Fowler Township. Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
