Edith M. Hecker
1917-2007
Edith M. Hecker, 89, of Champion, passed into eternal life Saturday, January 13, 2007 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lickingville, Pa. to Charles and Hattie Sandrock, the third of six children.
Edith and Kenneth W. Hecker were united in marriage October 22, 1940 in Greenville, Pa., then spent most of their married life in Champion.
The center of Edith's life was her close relationship with God and her family. She was a 65-year member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Edith worked as head cook of the Champion Elementary School cafeteria, and was a member of the Champion Business and Professional Women.
Survivors include daughters Judith (Gerald) Kuhl of Helena, Montana and Janet (Ronald) Calhoun of Warren; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters Esther (Ronald) Chappel and Betty Daum. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Wednesday, January 17, 2006 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Champion Township Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made either to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512, or to Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel Ave. N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485.
