Edgar O. Angstadt, 97, of Youngstown, formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Park Vista Retirement Community. He was born May 15, 1910 in Warren, the son of William F. and Fannie (Sweesy) Angstadt.
Mr. Angstadt was a 1931 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and retired in 1970 from Republic Steel after 35 years of employment. He was a member of Vienna Presbyterian Church, the Vienna Kiwanis Club, and Odd Fellows #29, Mahoning County. After retiring, Evelyn and he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee for many years for the round and square dancing before moving back to Trumbull County. He enjoyed basketball, round dancing, square dancing, and founded the square dancing group "Square Wheel."
Surviving are three nieces: Ruth Ann (Cleaves) Pearson of Caldwell, Ohio, Juanita (Angstadt) Stoshak of Leavittsburg, and Margaret "Peg" (Angstadt) Pinter of Warren; a nephew, William Angstadt of Leavittsburg; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Cleaves of Caldwell; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Otte of Vienna. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Evelyn (Tidd) Angstadt, who he married October 22, 1944 and who died June 8, 1989; a sister, Hazel Cleaves; four brothers, Howard, Paul, Richard, and Warren Angstadt; and two nephews, Dwight Angstadt and Fred "Freddie" Angstadt.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. David Black of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
