Dorothy A. Philipp

CORTLAND - Dorothy A. Philipp, 79, passed quietly away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Lake Vista Retirement Community. She was born on January 7, 1934 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Whitla and Alice (Baumgartel) Bates.

Dorothy received a Bachelor's degree from Waynesburg College. She had served on the board at Lake Vista, PEO, and volunteered for the Trumbull County Chapter of American Red Cross. Her greatest joy was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Memories of Dorothy will be carried on by son, Herman J. Philipp of Rockford, IL; son, Scott A. (Cristan) Philipp of Olatha, KS; son, William C. (Chris) Philipp of Coraopolis, PA; son, James L. (Trudy) Philipp of Roscoe, IL; 10 grandchildren plus many friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Herman H. Philipp, whom she shared 32 yrs of marriage until his passing in 1987.

A Memorial Service will be held on December 7, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Lake Vista Clubhouse, 303 N. Mecca St., Cortland, OH 44410 with Rev. Donald P. Barnes officiating.
