Dorothy C. Mandrean 79, of Warren, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Hospice House in Poland. She was born June 6, 1930 in Warren, the daughter of Herbert A. and Virginia W. (Wilson) Criddle, and had lived in the Warren area all her life.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Mrs. Mandrean received a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and a master's degree from Westminster College. She taught elementary school for 33 years in the Warren City Schools, retiring in 1984. A member of First United Methodist Church in Warren, she had been active in the church choir and the Faith Circle. She was a life member of the NEA, OEA, WEA, and Trumbull Retired Teachers Association, and volunteered for many years for Mobile Meals and Hospice of Trumbull County.
Surviving are her husband, Costi Mandrean, Jr., whom she married May 24, 1959; a sister, Sara V. Cross of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two brothers, James W. (Janice) Criddle of Edenton, N.C., and Jack H. (Eileen) Criddle of Champion. Her parents precede her in death.
A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Oaks of First United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made either to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd. Poland, Ohio 44514, or to Mobile Meals, 323 E.
