Donald E. "Don" Potts, Sr., 71, of Champion, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his devoted family. He was born September 10, 1939 to John and Catherine (Cratsley) Potts of Youngstown, OH. He graduated from Vienna High School and worked as an electrician for IBEW Local Union 573. He has served in the US Army from 1960 till 1965 and obtained the rank of Sergeant.
Don is survived by his loving spouse Carol Jean (Saunders) Potts of Champion, whom he married June 27, 1964, and mother Catherine Potts of Champion. His daughter, Rebecca Jean "Becky" Rogers of Warren, and son Don (Amber) Potts, Jr., of Howland Twp.; 4 grandchildren, Jason and Zachary Rogers of Warren, Anthony and Elizabeth Potts of Howland. He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Potts and a brother Bill Potts.
Mass will be celebrated, 11 am Friday on July 29, 2011 at St. William's Church, with the Fr. Michael D. Balash officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday 6-8 pm at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service in the narthex of the church. Military Honors will be presented following the service. Inurnment will take place at Champion Township Cemetery at a later date.
