Dillie Louise (Rinda) Harries of Warren Ohio, died peacefully in her sleep Friday October 6, 2006 at the age of 73. Dillie was born May 13, 1933 in Warren, Ohio at the home of her parents Michael Edwin and Ruth Amina (Allen) Rinda.
Dillie was a 1951 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Richard Bailey Harries whom she married November 9, 1952.
She was actively involved in the JAYCETTS; an Elder at Second Christian Church; staff secretary of Second Christian Church; administrative assistant and grant writer at SCOPE; she worked on various political campaigns; PTA; PTO; Cub Scouts; volunteer at Trumbull County Genealogy Department; The Upton Society; Warren General Hospital Ladies Guild and the Loving Mother's Club.
Dillie was an avid fan of Warren G. Harding football, holding season tickets for over 50 years. She was a charter member of Panther Moms Football Booster Club; one of the first women joining the Warren Gridiron Club; Secretary of Warren Gridiron Club; Secretary and Treasurer of the Harding Varsity House Building Committee; as well as Chairwoman of the Pigskin Power Building Fund. She was inducted in the 2001 Warren Sports Hall of Fame Local Hero's Corner for her contribution to Warren City School Sports and also honored by the Warren City Schools for her 50+ years of involvement in their programs.
She is survived by sons Richard Grant (Sue) Harries of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Charles Michael Harries of NM; Edward Robert (Kelly) Harries of Howland, OH and David Allen (Jill) Harries of Warren, OH. Eight grandchildren: James, David, Kristy, Erik, Conor, Matthew, David Jr. and Patrick Harries as well as two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, June Seymour and two brothers, Allen and David Rinda.
Calling hours are scheduled for 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2006 at The Second Christian Church with Service to follow at 7:00 PM. The Rev. Gene Eason will be officiating.
