Delores J. Haffner

Delores Jean "Dee" (McKenna) Haffner, 71, of Warren, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Hospice House in Poland at 8:40 p.m. She was born October 19, 1938 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, the daughter of Robert Casper and Grace Ann (Stevenson) McKenna, and had lived in Warren since 1956.

A graduate of Toronto High School, Dee enjoyed reading, word puzzles, cooking, movies, yard work, email/internet, mysteries, donating to charities, candles, her puppies, her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, John Milton Haffner, Sr. of Warren, whom she married August 10, 1957; two sons, John Milton and wife Lori Haffner, Jr. and Randall Lee Haffner, both of Warren; eleven grandchildren, Shaun M., Ryan P. and wife Holly, and Tara N. Haffner of Florida, Clayton G. and wife Jessica Haffner of California, Erica K. Haffner of Wisconsin, Joey Jensen of Iowa, Joe W. Westfall Jr. of Ohio, Gregory Truman of Iowa, and Ariel Truman of Iowa; great grandchildren, "baby girl" due in March 2010 daughter of Tara Haffner, Brandon son of Joe Westfall Jr., and Isaiah son of Erica Haffner; a sister, Patricia A. McKenna and fiancee Paul Bierwirth of New Bern, N.C.; and a nephew, Ed Grimm of Marysville, Ohio. Canine grandchildren Scruffy (Carin Terrier Mix) and Gabrinoel (Puggle). Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Mary E. Townley.

At her request, cremation is taking place. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Friends may call 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a gathering following the service at Georgies' Restaurant,1860 Elm Road N.E., Warren, Ohio, until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
