WARREN - David Edwin Stoner, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the emergency room at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born on October 7, 1940 in Poland Twp., Ohio, the son of the late Lisle and Sylvia (Pekkanen) Stoner.

David attended Poland Seminary High School and the Staunton Military Academy. He served in the Army as an instructor of the S.E.R.E program in Germany. He enlisted in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1965.

David was a machinist with Cooper Power Tools in Lexington, SC and retired in 2002. He was a Mason while in SC and was of the Lutheran faith. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and was also an avid SC Gamecock Fan.

Memories of David will be carried on by his wife, Teresa Griggs Stoner, daughter, Jessica (FiancAC. Gene Tucholski) Stoner both of Warren, son, Stephen Stoner of Temple, TX, daughter, Sylvia McCroy of Dallas, TX, sons, Johnny (Shannon) Griggs and Derek (Kayla) Griggs both of Lugoff, SC, 13 grandchildren, sister, Virginia Ohlin of Warren,

He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Stoner.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 2 pm - 3 pm at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home in Warren, with a Memorial Service following. Services of final committal and full military honors will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.

His family suggests contributions be made in the form of donations to Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
