Daniel J. Crawford, 49, of Columbus and formerly of Warren, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Imperial Skilled Care Center in Warren. He was born January 21, 1959 in Salem, the son of Daniel K. and Juanita M. (Cigainero) Crawford.

Mr. Crawford was a 1977 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and received a bachelor's degree in journalism from The Ohio State University. Beginning his career as an intern with the Dayton Daily News, he was a reporter for the Youngstown Vindicator, United Press International, and Gongwers News Service; bureau chief for Horvitz Newspapers; a reporter and columnist for Business First; and a contributor to Crain's Cleveland Business and Tennis Magazine. He was a former member and officer of the Ohio Legislative Correspondents Association, a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warren, and a member of Holy Name Parish in Columbus.

Surviving are his mother, Juanita Crawford of Warren; a sister, Catherine M. Cotleur of Hagerstown, Md.; a brother, Floyd C. Crawford of Salem; and a nephew, Matthew Cotleur of Hagerstown. His father precedes him in death.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca N.E., Warren, Ohio 44481, with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Interment of his urn will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
