Dale L. Scott, 87, of Champion, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at Windsor House of Champion. He was born June 24, 1922 in Salem, the son of Corwin K. and Inez (Johnson) Scott, and had lived in Trumbull County since 2001, returning here from Florida.

A veteran of the U.S. Marines, Mr. Scott worked in security at Copperweld Steel as well as a special deputy with the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department. He had also worked as in security for General Development in Port Charlotte, Fla. A former member of the Moose Lodge, he enjoyed Florida weather and fishing, and was known as the Great Scott from Florida.

Surviving are his children: Patricia (Walter) Harris of Cocoa, Fla., Randy Scott of Du Bois, Pa., Allen (Lynnette) Scott of Champion, Susan Hartline of Georgia, and Donald (Deborah) Scott of Champion; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and also great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Dorothy (Henschel) Scott, whom he married April 12, 1947 and who died April 6, 1997; a sister, Verna (Scott) Hall; and a brother, Frank Scott.

A memorial service will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at Champion Church of the Nazarene, 3924 High N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483, with Rev. Tim McPherson officiating. Friends may call 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Private interment will take place at a later date at Meadow Brook Memorial Park. Material contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
