WARREN - Clyde Clark Workman, 89, passed quietly away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 after a long illness. He was born on August 24, 1924 in Warren, the son of the late Alexander and Bessie (Cracraft) Workman.
Clyde had worked for Niles Glass for 5 years, the US Army Corp of Engineers for 12 years and finally retired from Brainard Steel as a Steelworker. He was a longtime member of the DAV Chapter #11, Purple Heart Chapter #606, Vienna Amvets Post #290 and American Legion Post #700. He was an avid boater and enjoyed watching old western movies.
He served his country in the US Army during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theaters. He was part of Company D 179th Infantry Regiment and received two Purple Hearts after being wounded in France.
Memories of Clyde will be carried on by brother, George E. (Doris) Workman, Sr. of Newton Falls; several nieces and nephews; plus many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Marjorie, Hazel, and Elsie, and brothers: Russell and Fred.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, December 23, 2013 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. Services will be at 2:00 pm with Chaplain Robert H. Brothers officiating. Clyde will then be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
