Clarence (Clem) T. Salka, Sr., 75, of Warren, died 5:15 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his daughter's home in Lordstown. He was born March 13, 1931 in Bunola, Pa., the son of John and Sophie Fetchen Salka, and had lived in Trumbull County since 1966.
Mr. Salka served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and worked 30 years for General Motors, retiring in July, 1994. He enjoyed golf and has the distinction of shooting four holes-in-one at Riverview Golf Course. He was an avid Steelers fan, and he loved his dog, Baby.
Surviving is his wife, Georgia Karas Weekly Jukes Salka, whom he married December 1, 1990. Clem and Georgia renewed their vows on January 14, 2006. Also surviving are two sons: Clarence T. Salka of Columbus, Mo., and Jeffrey D. (Lorie) Salka of Bishopville, S.C.; three step-daughters: Jo Platt of Weirton, W. Va., Robin L. Boyd and Jeanann Jukes, both of Lordstown; two step-sons: Thomas W. Jukes of W. Pueblo, Colo., and Robert W. Jukes of Warren; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: his twin Clare Krouse of Bunola, Pa., and Agnes Leskus of Bethel Park, Pa.; and four brothers: Ted, Frank, Walter, and Stanley Salka, all of Bunola, Pa. Preceding him in death are his parents; a step-daughter, Virginia M. Knepper; two brothers: Michael and Joseph Salka; and three sisters: Helen, Mary, and Blanche.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 27, 2006 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
