Christopher M. Hummell, 24, of Warren, died suddenly at home Saturday, July 5, 2008. He was born November 22, 1983 in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Michael C. and Brigitte A. (Rimar) Hummell.
Chris graduated with honors from Warren G. Harding High School in 2003, where he had been active with the robotics team and with WSCN-TV. He had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout through Troop 9 in Warren, and was currently assistant scoutmaster of the troop. He attended the Austin Village Baptist Church, where he helped with Vacation Bible School, especially with the artwork. He also did volunteer work with Head Start.
Chris enjoyed camping and anything to do with the outdoors. A great conversationalist, he was a practical joker with a big smile. He enjoyed his video games, and his favorite hobby was Japanese Anime.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, Michael and Brigitte Hummell of Warren; his maternal grandfather, Julius Rimar of Warren; his aunts and uncles: Marcia and Rodger Abbott of Cincinnati, George and Christine Rimar of Howland, Jim and Stacy Rimar of Marysville, Mich., Don and Shelley Rimar of Bazetta, John and Karen Rimar of Garfield Heights, Dianne and Wayne Hiers of Georgia, Mark and Liz Hummell of Marietta, Ga., Karin and Roger Yohem of Tucson, Ariz., Karl and Jen Hummell of Warren, and Barb and John Atkins of Indianapolis; his many cousins and friends; and his special friend and mentor, Rahlia Sakas. Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents, Earl and Mary Hummell; his maternal grandmother, Laura Rimar; and an aunt, Kathy Hummell-Rider.
Chris's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Austin Village Baptist Church, 545 Commerce N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485. Friends may call 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church, or at the family home after the service. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the family.
