Chris Ballas, 88, of Warren, died 5:40 AM Monday, December 20, 2004 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital-Forum Health. He was born Thursday, September 21, 1916, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of the late Charles and Mary Balladimos, and had lived in the Warren area since 1952.
Mr. Ballas served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He worked as a membership salesman for AAA-Ohio Motorist Association for 28 years, retiring in 1981. During that time, Mr. Ballas led Ohio in sales for twelve consecutive years, and the entire nation for six consecutive years.
Mr. Ballas was a Jehovah's Witness who volunteered his time to share the Bible's hope with others. He dedicated his life to God on June 18, 1947, and served in various assignments.
Mr. Ballas also enjoyed cooking, plants, gardening, sports, and travel.
Surviving Mr. Ballas are his wife, Mary Cavadas Ballas, whom he married November 22, 1952; two brothers: George (Edith) Ballas of West Palm Beach, Fla., and James (Lucille) Ballas of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, David (Lynette) Cavadas of Sagamore Hills; two sisters-in-law: Rebecca Wilson of Warren, and Esther (Richard) Garbinski of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two nieces, Jamie Wilson of Warren and Catherine (Lew) Witt of Florida; four nephews: Jason (Karen) Cavadas of Twinsburg, Jed Cavadas of Strongsville, Maxim Garbinski of Ft. Wayne, and Stephen (Charleen) Ballas of California; two grand-nieces, Athena Wilson of Warren and Ashley Cavadas of Twinsburg; a grand-nephew, Brandon Wilson of Warren; and a vast array of friends.
Preceding Mr. Ballas in death are his parents.
Services for Mr. Ballas will be 12:00 Noon Thursday, December 23, 2004 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home, 271 North Park Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44481, with Mr. Jeffrey LaBuda officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday and 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Thursday.
