Chester H. Phillips

Chester H. Phillips, Jr. 65, of Lordstown, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at home. He was born January 19, 1943 in Warren, the son of Chester H. and Beatrice m. (Shirran) Phillips, Sr., and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.

Mr. Phillips graduated from Lordstown High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an auto general for General Motors for 32 years, then drove truck for Railworks. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Niles and Lordstown Christian Church. A big fan of NASCAR racing, he also enjoyed riding his Harley and going deep-sea fishing with his sons. Together, he and Jeanne went to Texas each winter after they retired. He was president of the Board of Public Affairs in Lordstown for over 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanne (Miller) Phillips, whom he married September 26, 1964; three sons: Gary S. of Cleveland, Chester H. III (Laura) of Mansfield, TX, and Brian P. (Lisa M.) Phillips of Lordstown; four grandchildren: Hannah E., Chester H. IV, Alexis N., and Cody P. Phillips; and a brother, James (Linda) Phillips of Tiffin, Ohio. His parents precede him in death.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Wilson of Open Door Community Church in McDonald officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Lordstown Village Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
