Charles Francis Winkle

Middleburg, VA- Charles Francis Winkle, 86, passed away in Middleburg, Va. ,where he resided with his family, on July 6, 2016.

Charles was born in Boardman , Ohio to Frank and Helen Winkle on February 27, 1930. He graduated from Boardman High School and from Mount Union College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired as a Manufacturing Representative.

Charles moved from Boardman to Buffalo, NY in 1960 and resided there until 2004. From there he lived in Alpharetta, Ga from 2004-2015. Upon his death, he was residing in Middleburg, Va.

On December 3, 1955, he married his beloved wife, Mary Omerod Winkle of Warren in the First Presbyterian Church of Warren. They spent 50 happy years together before her passing in 2005.

Charles leaves 2 children, Charles "Chris" (Andrea) Winkle of Middleburg, VA and Peri (Mark) Winkle Soldati of Westfield, NJ. He also leaves his sisters Joyce Cleary, Vienna, VA and Deanna Andrews, Canton, Oh as well as 6 grandchildren.

A memorial service with The Honor Guard will take place Monday, August 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM In the chapel at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.

The family has requested that material contributions be made to Capital Caring Hospice, Resource Development Department 2900 Telestar Court Falls, Va. 22042.
