Charles A. Gillette

Charles A. Gillette, 84, of Warren, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at White Oak Manor. He was born August 7, 1923 in Warren, the son of Norman and Nancy (Grossman) Gillette, and had lived in the Warren area his entire life.

A World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Gillette worked as an electrician at Packard Electric, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon and an elder; Old Erie Lodge #3, F.& A.M.; and several bowling leagues. He had served as a volunteer at Camp Fitch and the Olympic Club.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Fisher) Gillette, whom he married December 31, 1948; two children, Deborah (Jack) Copeland of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Douglas (Joni) Gillette of Girard; three grandchildren: Kimberly Sealander, Kristy (David) Noe, and Ryan Gillette; two great-grandchildren, Chase Sealander and Zoe Noe; and two sisters, Marybelle (Lee) Myers of Southington and Beatrice (Earl) Stiver of Girard. Preceding him in death are his parents and three brothers, William, James, and Norman Gillette.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 19, 2008 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. David Black officiating. Inurnment at Crown Hill Burial Park will follow. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695B Boardman Canfield Rd., Suite 301, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
