Charles "Chuck" Raymond Durig

Charles “Chuck” Raymond Durig of Niles passed away at Shepherd of the Valley - Liberty on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 4:10 a.m. He was 90.

Chuck was born August 4, 1933, in Niles, the son of the late John Joseph and Minnie McNaughton Durig. 

He was a 1951 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Following high school, Chuck served his country with the United States Navy spending 2 years stationed in Japan. 

He owned his own heavy equipment business.

Mr. Durig was a member of St. Stephen Church. In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved listening to music, especially country, Elvis Presley, and Harry Belafonte. He could often be found grabbing coffee with his friends at the local Wendy’s where they would solve the world’s problems.   

He is survived by his 2 stepsons, Mark Dane, and Keven Dane.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Caroline Palmer Durig; and siblings, John Durig, Marie O’Connell, Rita Berry, Adelbert Durig, Kate Minnick, Anna Martin, Patricia Wolford, Daniel Durig, CSC, Bobby Durig, Rosemary McElhaney, and Joseph Durig.

A mass will be held in his honor on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Church 129 W Park Ave, Niles, OH 44446.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.
