Charles W. Cassidy, 89, of Mission Viejo, Calif. and formerly of Warren, died November 9, 2007 in California. He was born June 10, 1918 in Warren, the son of Ralph and Edna (Ott) Cassidy.
Mr. Cassidy was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Youngstown University, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for Second National Bank in Warren before the war, then served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a supervising auditor for GMAC for 32 years. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, traveling, and reading.
Surviving are his wife, Cornelia Jean (Steele) Cassidy, whom he married at St. Mary's Church in Warren on October 6, 1951; two daughters, Mary and Kathryn Cassidy, both of Mission Viejo; two sons, Frank (Brenda) Cassidy of Oceanside, Calif., and Charlie (Barbara) Cassidy of Mission Viejo; four grandchildren: Patrick, Taylor, Kevin, and Charlie Cassidy; two sisters, Peg (John) Moriarty of Granada Hills, Calif., and Rosemary (Kenneth) Furniss of Warren; and a brother, Ed Cassidy of Warren. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Robert Cassidy.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2007 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Warren, with Fr. Donald King of Blessed Sacrament Church officiating. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery will follow. Services for Mr. Cassidy are being held in California on November 15.
