Charles G. Carr, Sr., 67, of Youngstown, died at home Monday, January 11, 2010. He was born October 29, 1942 in Deer Park Md., the son of Eston and Thelma (Lipscomb) Carr, and had lived in Ohio since the 1960s.
Mr. Carr had worked for Youngstown Iron & Metal, and also at area hospitals. A kind and forgiving man, he loved animals and took care of strays with disabilities. He could joke, even when ill, and lived his life as it was given to him.
Surviving are his companion, Henrietta Bowser, with whom he made his home in Youngstown; two children: Charles (Norma) Carr, Jr. and Lori Carr, both of Coshocton; two stepchildren: Arthur Hamilton and Dorothy Johnson, both of Youngstown; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elaine (Howard) Parker of Girard, and Helen (Tom) Frill and Jenny (Robert) Gonzalez, both of Boardman; and two brothers: Pearly (Karen) Carr of Austintown and Leonard (Patti) Burke of Boardman. Preceding him in death are his parents, four brothers, and an infant son.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Pearly Carr, Charles's brother, and Rev. Ed Lord officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Greene Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512, or to the family to help defray the funeral expenses.
