Charles R. Burrows, Sr., 79, of Canfield and formerly of Warren, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at home, after a courageous battle with leukemia and Alzheimer's disease. Charles, also known as "Fats," was born October 23, 1930 in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of Alan and Freida (Seal) Burrows.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a life member of VFW Post 4237 in Austintown, where his son currently serves as Commander.
He leaves his wife, Lena R. Burrows, whom he married November 28, 1953; a daughter, Jona L. Burrows of Howland; a son, Charles R. Burrows, Jr. of Canfield, with whom he made his home; and two beautiful granddaughters, Emily and Kaitlyn Burrows.
He is also survived by sisters Doris Hill of Chapel Hill, N.C., Patricia Hill of Stow, Ohio, Colleen Forstrom of Springfield, Ohio, Cordelia Scott and Debbie Cross, both of Jasper, Ga.; and a brother, Frederick Burrows of Hunstville, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Lee and Alan Burrows, both of Wellsville, Ohio ; and a sister, Martha Jane Lanam, also of Wellsville.
Charles was much more than what is written here, and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched, especially his granddaughters Emily and Kaitlyn.
Upon his request, there will be no calling hours, and cremation is taking place.
