Carolyn M. Davis

NILES - Carolyn M. Davis, 91, went to be with our Lord at 3:15 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at her residence. She passed of natural causes.

She was born May 2, 1917 in Warren, the daughter of Edward and Elsie Spain, both deceased, where she resided until six years ago, when she moved to Niles.

Carolyn graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1935. On March 1, 1941, she married Thomas P. Davis, and they celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. She is a retiree of St. Joseph Riverside Hospital, where she worked in the Dietary Department until 1988.

Carolyn was a loving mother and grandmother. She took joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She had many friends and was known for her lively sense of humor and love of life.

She will be sadly missed by her loving children, Russell (Donna) Davis of Woodstock, Illinois, Linda (Brian) McMahon of Chapin, South Carolina, and Melissa (Bob) White of Howland, as well as by her cherished grandchildren, Brad and Leigh Ann Davis, Colleen, Brodie (Mary Louisa) and Brian M. McMahon, Craig Newberry and Brennan White, and by one very special great-grandson, Cade Patrick McMahon.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Spain, and two sisters, Clara Nash and Edna Brown.

By many, Carolyn M. Davis was considered a wonderful endearing person and will be forever missed. Please join us to celebrate her life. Visitation for family and friends are 6:30 to 7:30 Thursday and 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 at the funeral home, with Rev. Kelly Faulstich of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be sent in memory of Carolyn Davis in care of Shepherd of the Valley, 5525 Silica Rd., Youngstown, Ohio 44515.
