Carol A. Ronzi, 67, of Vienna, died September 4, 2010 at her home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Youngstown May 20, 1943, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Stas) Szoke.
A 1961 graduate of Chaney High School, she went on to pursue a nursing degree at Choffin, where she graduated in 1962. She also attended Penn State Shenango to help further her nursing career. Her nursing career started at Cafaro Hospital, then to Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where she worked for thirty years in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit. She also worked part-time for Nurses House Call. She retired in May, 2005.
She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Girard. She enjoyed being a Cub Scout den mother for her two sons. She also enjoyed crafts, gardening, and flower arranging. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her charity, compassion for others, strength of will, determination, and love of her family.
Surviving are her two sons, Michael (Tracey) Ronzi of Warren and Daniel Ronzi of Youngstown; five grandchildren: Aaron, Jacob, Rachel, Rita, and Gerard Ronzi; and a brother, Gere (Lori) Szoke of Columbiana. Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Eddy Szoke.
Services are 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, with Fr. Patrick Mackin of Cincinnati officiating. Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made either to The Family of Carol A. Ronzi, 1266 Grant St. S.E., Warren, Ohio 44483, or to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 525 Lawrence Ave., Girard, Ohio 44420 for Mass stipends.
