Carol J. Lang of Cortland, OH., 77, died peacefully at the Cortland Health Care Facility on Sunday, July 29, 2012. She was born June 8, 1935 and was the daughter of John R. Carter & Helen (Buterbaugh) Carter.

Carol was a graduate from Warren Township High School in May of 1953. She celebrated a full life with loving family and friends and in her career she was the Maplewood High School secretary from 1972 to 1980, a member of theTrumbull Rod & Gun Aux. Club from 1953-1985, she was the Aqua Aerobics Instructor at Cortland Fitness Centre in 1984. Carol also was on the Mecca Fire Aux. team from 1962-1985, she volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Service 1989-1992, and managed the office for the SCOPE Senior Centers from 1992-2006, and was an avid NASCAR Fan.

Surviving are her husband Jerry, whom she married November 5, 1955, sons; Richard S. of Bessemer, PA., and Brian E. (Leann) of Cortland, OH., a sister; Catherine A. (Thellman) Carter, and she has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, a grandson; Thomas Dale Raynor Jr. and, a great-grandson; James Robert Raynor. Preceding her in death are a daughter; Helen Bonita Lang, who died in 1972 and a brother John S. Carter

Services will be held at The McFarland & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 01, 2012 at 7 pm. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Inurnment will follow in East Mecca Cemetery at a later date.
