Carmel Anne Christopher

GIRARD - Carmel Anne Christopher passed into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center with her son at her side.

Carmel was born Jan. 13, 1941, to Joseph A. and Sara N. Gallo Christopher.

She attended St. Rose Catholic School and graduated from Girard High School. She immediately began her 35-year career as a secretary and accountant.

Carmel was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald.

She enjoyed bowling and her pet cats, but mostly she enjoyed her large Italian family. Loving, cooking, baking and making everyone's holidays magical, Carmel shared her love with everyone.

Carmel is survived by a son, David C. Altman of Girard; a daughter, Amy L. Altman of McDonald; and seven grandchildren, Alexis, Dominic, Anthony, Billy, Kyra, Cammie and Talon. She also leaves eight loving nieces and nephews, seven great-nieces and -nephews and three great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Carmel was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joseph Jr., Patrick and Anthony; and one sister, Mary Ann Stanley.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that monetary gifts for burial be given to her son, David.
