Carla A. Brown

Carla Ann (Alkire) Brown, 59, of Lordstown, died 2:33 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Forum Health - Trumbull memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born November 12, 1946 in Akron, the daughter of Wade L. and Evelyn (Lester) Brown, and lived in the Warren area since 1988.

Carla retired from Chrysler as a tow motor operator in 1988, after 17 years of employment. She was raised at the High St. Christian Church in Akron and belonged to the Lordstown Christian Church. She enjoyed writing short stories, being around her grandchildren, and driving.

Carla will be sadly missed by her three children: James D. Alkire, and his partner Richard Reynolds, of Jefferson, Lisa (Brian) Palmer of Youngstown, and Christopher Alkire of Lordstown; ten grandchildren: Joseph, Danielle, Ariel, and Dominique Bailey, Brian Palmer II, Edward, Irene, Jamie, and Justin Alkire, and Andrew Williams; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Barbara (Dennis) Neal and Shirley (Tom) Strittmatter; a brother, Robert Brown; several nieces and nephews; and her close friends Frances and Willie Davis and Terri Ferenzy. Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Edward E. Brown, whom she married June 6, 1992 and who died January 1, 1997.

Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2006 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Bernard Oakes of Lordstown Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Pine Knoll Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday and 12:00 to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
