Betty Lou Platt

West Farmington, Ohio - Betty Lou Platt, 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, October 10, 2016. She was born on September 23, 1926, the daughter of the late Earl and LuLu Kerger Collier.

Betty Lou was a cadet nurse during WWII but the war ended just as she graduated. She was the last class to graduate from Warren City Hospital School of Nursing before it became Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Betty Lou was employed by Packard Electric Div. of GM as a Registered Nurse for 37 years and retired as nursing supervisor. She was a member of Southington Christian Church where she was the cookie lady for vacation bible school. She loved traveling and was a participant in the Golden Voyagers. She spent winters with her husband in Tucson, AZ where she worked as a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital and was a Red Hat Lady. Betty Lou was a regular volunteer for Relay for Life. Betty Lou was active throughout life with her beloved grandchildren.

Memories of Betty Lou will be carried on by her four daughters and son: Cynthia Platt of West Farmington, Kathleen Platt of Tucson, AZ, Diana (Hiram) Lopez of Tucson, AZ, Luana (William) Andamasaris of Bazetta, and Thomas (Rhonda) Platt of Kennewick, WA. She will also be dearly missed by 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Susie, Mychaelyn, Leslie, Bill, Adam, Whitney, Eric, Christa, Eric, and Rod, and 11 great-grandchildren: Morgan, Sydney, Ryley, Maarten, Brody, Frances, Eric, Willa, Maxwell, Desmond, and Oliver, and her sister, Beverly Joy Doan of Champion, OH.

Betty Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, William "Curly" Platt.

The family will be celebrating her life Saturday, October 15, 2016 with calling hours from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Southington Christian Church with Rev. Randall Riley officiating. Services will immediately follow calling hours also at Southington Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Senior Independence Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Road Canfield, OH 44406.
