Betty Ann Petrilla

Betty Ann Petrilla , 80, of Youngstown, passed away Monday morning, January 20th, surrounded by her family, at the Omni West Assisted Living Center in Youngstown. 

She was born September 8, 1944 in Warren, a daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Koncsol) Fortune.

Betty attended Niles McKinley High School and spent her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.

She was married to George L. Petrilla and they shared 56 years of marriage and many happy memories together. He preceded her in death February 7, 2015.

Betty enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, and trying her luck at the casinos. She also had a sweet tooth and loved to eat snacks. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. Betty was a kind, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her four children; Brenda (Dennis) Dean, of McDonald, James (Michelle) Petrilla, and Debbie (Mark) Holmes, both of Niles, and Carolyn (Ron Bowers) Swegan, of Youngstown. She also leaves behind a sister, Kathy (Frank) Sudol; two brothers, David (Deb) Fortune and Patrick (Tammy) Fortune; and a sister-in-law, Judy Fortune, all of McDonald; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a son Ronald Petrilla, and two brothers, Albert and Terry Fortune.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 25th, at the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home, 614 Warren Ave., Niles. 

Friends may call one hour prior to services from 10-11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

Betty's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Omni West in Youngstown for all of the kind and compassionate care she received in her time there.
